Please note that Logic Pro 9 is not officially supported for Waves V9 Plug-Ins. That's why headphones are all the rave amoungst those who do care. People know laptops have crappy speakers, they don't really exp ct anything to sound that great on them.
Oh and another thing, it's one thing at trying to get your mix to translate on a laptop, but don't let it get I your way of making a decent sounding mix for other systems, which is really the focus.
So the question is more about how much frequency content is is already in your original bass sound. What you need in that instance is something that is more harmonically rich, or to double track it with something that is. If it's a simple mellow smith tone, then there's not much in the way or harmonics for the plugins to be enhancing. That said, it really does depend what you are using for a bass to begin with. When you look at it there's not many controls, but the are still not really offered in Ren Bass, so you can't really tweak it for your own purposes. Yeah Ren Bass does in fact utilise the MaxxBass tech, but I can't help think it must be limited in some aspects.
